Will probably use mostly on some family farm ground close to home, but I also like to visit the nearby Shawnee National Forest, and Land Between the Lakes areas. With any luck I will get to take my new hammock on a Rocky Mountain hunting trip in the next couple of years. Thanks again for a great product.

Robin Andréasson Hjo, Sweden
For their set up Robin chose Survivorman, Water Collectors and Snake Skins.
A note from Robin:
I live in the southern part of Central Sweden right next to some great forests and the winters get really cold here, that's why I chose the Survivorman XL Zip hammock with insulation to use for my outdoor adventures. I also plan on using it on my trips to the northernmost parts of Sweden and surrounding countries where it gets even colder, so with some great winter gear I'm sure the survivorman will fit my adventures really well. Can't wait to start using my new survivorman hammock on all the upcoming adventures this year!
January 2021
Robert Gelley Northumberland, UK
For their set up Robert chose a Survivorman, Water Collectors and Snake Skins.
A note from Robert:
Subject to Covid, I have a walking / wild camping trip to Southern Norway planned, If I need to stay at home then i will be out & about in the highlands of Scotland (if permitted). I’m Greatly impressed with my original purchase which always renders a great sleeping experience, which I have used on many trips in Europe and also sling it in the garden at home for summer day siestas. I really like the bug netting even if there are no insects around it diffuses the wind passing through the hammock which is really pleasant.
December 2020
Denise Langlois, Gorham, NH
For their set up Denise chose an Expedition Zip, Silnylon Hex Rain Fly, 72” Webbing Straps, Water Collectors and Snake Skins.
My time is spent in the White Mountains National Forest in New Hampshire. I switched to the hammock back in 2013. The rainfly that I purchased was the Hennessy Hex 70D Polyester, which I still depend on today. I always get a great night sleep, which is key for the next day's hike. I avoid any "established" backcountry sites. I find my own spot for the night based on the principles of Leave No Trace. It is disheartening when I see areas that have been impacted by careless campers. With the hammock, I love the fact that when I pack up the next day, there is no TRACE that someone camped there. I am really looking forward to spending new adventures in my new Expedition Zip Hammock with the 30D Silnylon Rainfly. Looks like this is the year I start exploring the Wilderness areas that I have always wanted to explore thanks to Hennessy for this wonderful gift!!
November 2020
Derek Land Wayland, NY
For their set up Derek chose a 4 Season Explorer, Hex Rain Fly, 72” Webbing Straps, a large mesh pocket, Water Collectors and Snake Skins.
A note from Derek:
A friend just invited me to the Adirondacks the end of May this year (safely) so this is perfect timing. Your gift will get used for car camping, 2 or 3 night hikes, and kayak camping. It’ll definitely be put to good use. I have no winter gear than clothes so the insulation will be a super nice treat; my friends do winter camping and I haven't been able to join them. Now I’ll be able to.
October 2020
Thijs Notenboom The Netherlands
For their set up Thijs chose a 4 Season Explorer, Hex Rain Fly, 72” Webbing Straps and Snake Skins.
A note from Thijs:
First of all, thanks all at Hennessy for this rare privilege! I love camping, with little gear walking or cycling on my own, or with a lot more gear with the family. I am a better safe than sorry kind of person, so I carry a little too much most of the time. I hope this hammock provides the perfect balance of still having all I need, but at less weight than before! Having studied Biology and worked for most of my life in environmental protection and advocacy, I love undisturbed nature and the ‘leave no trace’ motto of Hennessy, and will always try to live by it when camping. It has been a while now, but as soon as Covid measures in Europe allow for (safe) travel again, I will be out and about.
September 2020

Having the bug net and fly will be awesome for the warmer spring and summer camps - plus it rains a lot here sometimes! I am SO excited to get this as I have a trip planned with some 4WD buddies to the Linville Gorge area of NC in November so this will be a perfect time to use the hammock.

Dave Mathews Everett WA
For their set up Dave choose a 4 Season Survivorman with 96” Webbing Straps, an Overcover and a set of Snake Skins.
A note from Dave:
First I want to thank you and the team at Hennessy hammocks for this privilege!
I’m a Biomed at university of Washington hospital and have been working through COVID-19 since it’s beginning, some of my team have even been infected. This has been a demanding time for our team. As for hammock camping I have been pushing the limits for cold weather camping. I will include some pictures from my trip to the sawtooth mountains (the hammock I brought was not up to the temperatures I countered I ended up digging into the snow and sleeping on my under quilt it was about 10 degrees F in the morning) I’m hoping that I can build a system that can test the boundaries of cold weather hammock camping. I have camped on Mt. Rainier, mt. Saint Helens, we have made the trip from here to Banff, Jasper up the ice park way, through northern B.C. The Yukon, Northern Territory and into Hanes Alaska, in the fall frosty every morning. I hope to make that trip again when COVID-19 ends.

November 2019
Gary Sedcole New Zealand
For their set up Gary chose a Survivorman XL, burnt orange Hex rain fly, 96” Webbing Straps, and oversized mesh pocket, Snake Skins and Water Collectors.
A note from Gary:
I live in Hastings, which is located in the North Island of New Zealand. I brought an Expedition Classic for hunting trips about 17 years ago when I was sick waking up with a sore back from sleeping on the ground. What I quickly found out in this part of the world was that I needed some form of insulation. So I cut to shape a 2mm closed cell foam sheet to stop the cold keeping me awake in the early hours of the morning. Since then, about 6 years ago, I brought the Leaf Lounger for home use. Since getting married & having children, hunting away has been slim pickings. Now that the kids are old enough, I plan to get away a lot more often, starting with a 2 week trip to Steward Island to hunt White Tail deer at the end of February. It would be great to be able to take the new hammock away with me to put it to the test.

I camp with our Boy Scout Troop and sleeping on the ground is not easy as it used to be for me. Hammocks have gotten very popular for our outings, and this setup will work great for me; whether on our regular weekends camp outs or for some of our backpacking expeditions. I've also been wanting to do some bike camping and touring along the great trail system we have across the State of Missouri, and this will be great for that as well. I'm looking forward to some awesome, bug free, nights swinging gently between the trees. Thank you so much for this awesome prize!
March 2018
Jesse Phillips, Rochester, PA
For his set up, Jesse chose an Explorer Ultralite Classic with 72” Webbing Straps, a Silnylon Hex Rain fly, Supershelter #2 Classic, Overcover #2 Classic, XXL Snake Skins and a set of Water Collectors.
A note from Jesse:
I'll be using this hammock system to backpack all over, but most of my backing is in or around the Monongahela, and Allegheny National Forests, two watersheds that feed Pittsburgh's rivers. Hammocks are perfect for this region: we have plenty of trees, and very little flat, dry ground. This region also produces some very random weather, so I'm going to try out the Hex Rainfly on this hammock. The larger coverage of this rain fly will help cover my entire hiking party in a pinch, or allow me to have some room to work or cook in extended rain. I'm excited to try out the 4 season insulation system and Overcover to extend my hammock use far into the fall, as switching to a tent after October is always a little depressing for me, but the Appalachians in fall can get too cold, especially for an uninsulated hammock. Hennessy is on of my favorite outdoor companies, and my absolute favorite shelter system. I'm looking forward to beating my new hammock up for the next decade.

I am an avid fan and frequent user of my Expedition Asym hammock. Whether I’m using it in the backcountry during my rides or relaxing in the backyard, I love my hammock! Last summer, when I rode the Washington BDR with a couple of friends, I introduced them to my hammock tent and told them they were crazy to sleep on the ground. One particular night while setting up camp, a front passed through. The gusty winds proved challenging for my friends as they setup their “instant" tents. I breezed through setting up my hammock. Needless to say, my companions were duly impressed at how easy it was to setup and even more at how comfortable it was. I looked forward to camp each night and relaxing in my hammock after riding all day. Again, thank you for the opportunity to share with you my dream hammock setup. I’m grateful for my great luck at winning!
